Odessa Police just released details of an arrest of Officer Ricardo Rodriguez earlier this week.
Rodriguez was arrested by Rowlett Police, a suburb near Dallas, in a Whataburger parking lot in reference to a possible Driving While Intoxicated traffic stop.
Rodriguez was a passenger in the vehicle and was arrested for Public Intoxication. The driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Public Intoxication is a class "C" Misdemeanor. When notified of the incident, the Chief of Police in Odessa ordered Rodriguez to be placed on Administrative Leave with pay pending an investigation.
Odessa Police also confirm this is not the first incident involving Officer Rodriguez.
OPD reported to the IHOP on JBS Parkway late last month for a disturbance which involved Rodriguez and three others. Roriguez faced no charges but an internal affairs investigation was launched.
According to Police Spokesperson Steve LeSueur, Rodriguez and another officer were investigated by the Professional Standards Unit last March after an illegal search of a home and an arrest of a man.
LeSueur says the officers completed additional training and were given reprimands by the department.
