Alpine - Fog and ice didn't delay school or keep businesses from opening in Alpine, but it did keep a lot of people in doors and off the roads.
Prepared or not, Alpine woke up to ice today.
“We woke up and it was pretty cold outside, very foggy,” Alpine resident Joseph Macias said. “It was also icy, very icy. I got stuck on a hill this morning!”
To get out of the cold, a lot of people head over to Magoo's for a cup of coffee and to catch up.
"The guys come in in the morning and say 'oh it’s cold out there,’" Rane Gonzaels, Magoo’s employee said.
"We see the way they're bundled up. That's how we gauge the weather at the restaurant," Macias said.
A layer of frost over just about everything makes for a nice scenery, but it's the bitterly cold temperatures the regulars at Magoo's would like to do without.
“I grew up in Maine and moved down here to get warm...it happens every once in a while,” Magoo’s regular nicknamed Pilot said.
“It's hot one day and cold the next, there's never a happy medium,” Macias said.
Road conditions right now are not bad, however as the sun goes down, the roads will get slick again. If you do plan on getting out tonight, use caution.
