PERMIAN BASIN-Today and tomorrow are the final days to donate to the Salvation Army's Bell Ringing Fundraiser.
The annual fundraiser takes place across the United States. Captain Tex Ellis at the Midland Salvation Army reports that as of a week ago, the basin's fundraising efforts were $3,000 behind what they raised last year.
Ellis encourages all basin residents to donate to the Salvation Army this evening, noting that bell ringers will be out until around 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
"We're hoping Saturday and today gets us to where we need to be," Ellis said.
The Salvation Army provides a number of services, including shelter for the homeless and a free meal each day.
Their noon meal for the homeless in Midland will be open to the public and free on Christmas Day.
