UPDATE: Suspect Confesses to Shooting Victim 11/18/13

According to the arrest report, Pete Ballez confessed to intentionally firing one shot at Cameron Massey with a 12-gauge shotgun.
According to a source close to the suspect's family, there was underage drinking at the house and possibly drug use.
One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting on the 4300 block of Parkdale around 9:30 last night.
According to Midland Public Information Officer Sara Higgins, one suspect and one victim, both males, were in a house on Parkdale when an altercation started inside. The men moved to the front lawn where the suspect shot the victim.
Pete Ballez Jr., 20, of Midland, was charged with murder after Midland police found 20-year-old Cameron Massey, also of Midland, deceased at a residence located in the 4300 block of Parkdale Drive.
Police responded to a disturbance call at the residence at approximately 9:22 p.m. and found Massey lying just outside the front door of the residence. Massey had suffered one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. Ballez was also located at the scene and was taken into custody by Midland police.
The investigation into the homicide continues. Next of kin have been notified.
