Double Amputee Army Veteran Finds New Life Through Music 11/18/13

Andrews - A double amputee Army veteran, who lost all hope after returning home, reinvents his life after hearing a song on the radio by American Idol Contestant Jason Castro. After learning the veteran’s story, Castro invited him on stage to sing with him the song that changed his life.
For Army Specialist Justin Lane Music is what gave him new life. While at war in Afghanistan Lane was hit with a 200-pound IED, a blast that took both legs and caused multiple internal injuries.
“I was in depression and was wondering what I was going to do with my life,” said Lane.
But then one day, Lane heard a song on the radio that completely turned his life around.
“I heard Jason’s song Only A Mountain on the raidio, and I knew God was talking to me and telling me, hey you are going to be ok, you just lost your legs that’s it,,” said Lane.
“I write songs and hope they can do something, but you never know the full extent of what they can do, and when you hear the stories like Justin’s, it’s really just humbling and awe inspiring,” said Castro.
Justin then posted his cover of “Only A Mountain” by Jason Castro on Youtube. It didn’t take long for it to go viral, not even a year later Justin was performing at the presidential inauguration and performing on stage with his musical inspiration, Jason Castro.
“I have been waiting for this moment since December 18th, the day I put that music video on Youtube. I felt like a high school girl, I had to tell myself, calm down it’s only Jason Castro, I can do this,” said Lane.
Lane says he will continue with his newly found music career and inspire others like Jason inspired him. If you would like to view that the video that brought Lane to this point, visit the link below.
