Midland - A Midland Lee High School junior is doing what he can to comfort children in crisis situations.
Wilson Clark, son of a law enforcement officer, began collecting toys three years ago for law enforcement to give to children on crisis scenes.
Toys are awarded to children in crisis situations by law enforcement, crisis intervention and child protective services throughout the year.
Recipients are children who may have witnessed or been a victim of a crime.
This week November 4-8, toy collections for the season kick off at Lee High School, 3500 Neely in Midland. A collection box is located in the office.
Last year, Susser Holdings, parent company of Stripes was Wilsonís corporate sponsor. Approximately 500 toys were distributed to Midland and Ector County Sheriff Offices in 2012.
This year, they're expecting even more toys to be collected.
Locally, the second public collection will take place at Claydesta, December 2-6.
There will be collectiions in San Antonio and Houston this year as we expand across Texas helping children in crisis situations.
There will also be local collection boxes at various merchants across the Permian Basin.
