Big Spring, TX - The terrifying sights and sounds are what make a haunted house come to life.
For the students of The Southwest Collegiate Institute of the Deaf in Big Spring putting together an annual production can be a challenge, but they say it's not what you hear that makes their haunted house stand out- it's what you feel.
When you walk into the house of horror student Melinda Kisling says they do not need words to invoke fear into hundreds of people.
“I think it's valuable that SWCID provides the hunted house,” said Kisling, “We like to show the community that we are here.”
Although the students are deaf, it's the sound that they feel is the most important.
"It's really hard to describe but we do make it louder so that people who can hear are even more afraid to go into certain rooms,” said Tammy Szusitzky, The Secretary of The SWCID Outdoor Adventure Club, “We play it so loud because we can feel the vibrations.”
25% of the proceeds will be going to the Toys for Tots program.
The SWCID Outdoor Adventure Club is hosting two haunted houses: Scared Out of Your Mind-$10 and Casper’s Haunted House- $5
The Haunted houses are open from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Halloween night.
Located: 3301 Hudgens Memorial Drive in Big Spring.
