BREAKING: Former Greenwood Curriculum Director Arrested For Improper Student Relationship 9/30/13
September 30, 2013
-- Update --
Greenwood - A teacher is behind bars this evening after investigators say she was having improper relations with a student. Former Greenwood ISD Curriculum Director D’Laine Young was arrested Monday afternoon and placed in Wise County Jail.
CBS 7 crews visited Greenwood officials on Monday who says they had no clue that anything like this was going on.
“Can you truthfully tell me that no one knew that any of this was happening on the school board?”
“I can truthfully tell you that none of us knew of any of this evidence happening,” said Greenwood Interim Superintendent Ariel Elliott.
Elliot says there were other “circumstances” that led Mrs. Young to resign, however would not comment on what those circumstances were. In a news release put out by the Midland County Sheriff’s office it states that the investigation proves Mrs. Young knowingly had an improper relationship with the victim. It then follows up by saying she engaged in sexual intercourse while he was enrolled as a student. Once the news spread, many Greenwood parents are concerned about their child’s safety.
“It really makes you wonder, it really does, it makes you wonder about the teachers, can you trust them anymore,” said one Greenwood resident.
“Do you think the community should trust the school board?” CBS 7 asked.
“Absolutely,” said Elliott.
“Do you think that they took the correct steps and in a timely manner?” CBS 7 asked.
“Well it’s not my place to judge what happened in the past, but like I say we are going to worry about what’s tomorrow,” said Elliott.
Elliott says the school district is already and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
