HOWARD COUNTY-A Sands Springs man is found dead as a result of a gunshot wound after Howard County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an early morning assault.
This is the second gun-related incident in less than two days in the Big Spring area.
"This is a very quiet neighborhood,” said Gillem Road Resident Lenora Padron.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault at this home on 8705 Gillem Road around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They found 50-year-old Bobby Reed dead
"I thought they were doing a drug raid or something not a killing," Padron said.
Another neighbor said she heard motorcycles pull up and then two gunshots.
"It’s very scary,” Padron said.
Orange markings dot the ground in front of and beside the home, part of the evidence collection process. Officials say they are interviewing witnesses and still working to determine the circumstances of the case.
Some are on high alert, the possible shooting comes less than a day and a half after another in Big Spring. Others are not concerned.
"Do you feel safe in this area?” “Yeah, I feel pretty safe,” said another Gillem Road resident.
No arrests have been made in the Gillem road incident.
Reed’s body has been sent to Lubbock for an autopsy.
