Colts Lose Ballard 9/13/13
UNDATED - Colts starting running back Vick Ballard will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Coach Chuck Pagano says that Ballard was hurt making a cut in practice Thursday.
Former New York Giants star Ahmad Bradshaw is expected to start Sunday against Miami.
Ballard was Indy's top rusher in 2012 as a rookie. He ran for 814 yards and two touchdowns but was best remembered for making the diving, twisting TD he scored on a 16-yard TD pass to beat Tennessee in overtime. Last week, Ballard ran 13 times for 63 yards.
Elsewhere around the NFL;
- Denver cornerback Champ Bailey will miss his second straight game because of a lingering left foot sprain that has sidelined him since Aug. 17. He'll sit out Sunday's game against the Giants, making it only the fourth time in his 15-year career he's missed consecutive games.
- Washington kicker Kai Forbath has a sore right groin that might keep him out of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Coach Mike Shanahan says Forbath will test the leg Saturday, and the Redskins will then decide whether they need to sign a fill-in.
- The NFL has fined Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews $15,000 for his hit on San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick (KAP'-ur-nihk) last week. Matthews drew a personal-foul penalty after he tackled Kaepernick out of bounds during Sunday's 49ers win.
