UPDATE On Fatal Accident at Hwy 80 and Faudree Rd in Odessa 8/2/13

UPDATE: 7:00 P.M.
ODESSA-This morningís devastating crash reminded commuters how unsafe and deadly the roads of West Texas are.
"A lot of people don't care about their driving out here. Everybody has big trucks and they think they can just push people out of the way, until somebody else comes with the same attitude and they crash," said Christian Monroy.
Another driver said stoplights won't help, it's the drivers who need to change.
"People need to learn to slow down everybody has to help each other in order to fix this problem," said Jebon Viscaino.
We spoke with TxDotís spokesperson, Gene Powell, who said they're always looking for ways to improve their roads.
Powell said that his team will investigate todayís accident and if they discover that changes can be made they will make them, but ultimately he says it's up to the drivers.
UPDATE: 3:30 P.M.
An arrest has been made in connection with a fatality crash that occurred in the 13000 block of East Highway 80. Margarito Urias Baeza, date of birth 03/18/1962, was charged and arrested for Criminal Negligent Homicide, State Jail Felony. The driver of the Nissan Altima has been identified as Tommy Lee Boerner, date of birth 02/05/1980. Boerner was from Midland and next of kin have been notified.
UPDATE: 2:50 P.M.
The Odessa Police Department and Fire Rescue responded to the 13000 block of E. Hwy. 80 in reference to major crash. Investigation revealed that a white 2013 Chevy 3500 truck, being driven by Margarito Baeza, 51 years of age, was traveling southbound in the median lane attempting to turn left onto the 13000 block of E. Hwy. 80.
The Chevrolet truck was bulling a black 2011 Big Tex utility trailer. A black 2009 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on the 13000 block of E. Hwy. 80. Baeza failed to yield the right-of-way while attempting to turn left, causing the front of the Nissan Altima to strike the back-left corner of the Chevrolet truck.
Baeza was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other two people in the Chevy truck were not injured.
The driver of the Nissan Altima succumbed to their injuries that were sustained in the crash. There were no passengers in the Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan Altima's name will not be released until next-of-kin have been notified. No charges have been filed as the investigation is still ongoing.
UPDATE: 10:10 A.M.
Eyewitnesses are saying that the white pickup involved in this morning's Hwy. 80 crash pulled out in front of a black sedan traveling west. Upon collision, the car caught on fire.

It appears that a pickup with a trailer was turning to head east on Hwy 80 from the service road when a black car struck them heading west. The condition of those involved is not yet known.
