Big Spring Superintendent Resigns 7/12/13
July 12, 2013
Dr. Saldivar wouldn't speak on camera but he did tell CBS 7 his resignation is a career move, as he looks for better opportunities for himself and his family. He says he is proud of what he has accomplished since becoming the superintendent in 2008.
"I wish him well," said Racheal Holm, a parent with two students in Big Spring Schools
She is a parent of two students at Marcy Elementary and neighbor of Saldivar. She says the schools have helped her kids succeed and is a little concerned that new leadership could change that.
"Iím not scared that it could be a drastic, bad change, but a the same time he is what we're used to," she said.
School board member Irene Gonzalez says Saldivar's resignation was agreed upon by all seven board members and the district has replaced superintendents in the past with very little issue.
"This is the best thing for the school district and Mr. Saldivar. There's not anything in turmoil, this is just what's best for the school district," she said.
John white actually removed his son from the school system and says even with the superintendent leaving, the schools have a long way to go before he re-enrolls his child.
"Changing the superintendent may change certain things, but it won't change the school system in general," he said.
