ODESSA, TX - Time to bring out the colors in your yard and get ready for the barbeques and pool parties but maintaining a presentable lawn takes watering. Here's when you can water in Odessa:
Odessans can water twice per week.
Even addresses on Tuesday and Saturday.
Odd addresses Wednesday and Sunday.
And there's no limit on hours, you can water any time on your corresponding day.
"They can wash down their buildings, windows, cars, fill their swimming pools as long as its on their designated day," said Andrea Goodson, Public Information Officer, City of Odessa.
But that doesn't mean leave the water on and go run errands, because water running into the street is against the law.
"It's actually illegal if it runs more than 50 feet from the property line so prevent it from running and being wasted," said Goodson.
Here's a look at the rates...
Odessans will pay a base rate of $17.47 3K-10K will pay $4.87 per thousand gallons
11K-20K will pay $5.60 per thousand gallons
21K-50K will pay $5.74 per thousand gallons
50K+ will have to pay $5.88 per thousand gallons
The City of Odessa reminds residents not to water when it's too windy for the water to seep in and get drought tolerant plants. If you have more questions…
"The Texas Agrilife Extensions and the Texas Master Gardeners have some wonderful resources to measure how much water your lawn needs, i encourage people to visit those website because they do have some wonderful tips," said Goodson.
