Midland Chamber of Commerce Hosts 2013 Star-Spangled Salute 6/20/13
MIDLAND - The Midland Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the 2013 Star Spangled Salute Presented by Devon Energy. This spectacular celebration of our Independence will feature two incredible concerts. First, performers from the Midland High, Lee High and Midland College community band will come together to entertain the crowd with a patriotic show. Next, patrons can enjoy a 90-minute musical variety concert that is sure to have something for everyone! Then, as the sun fades, the sky will light up with a dazzling 20-minute fireworks display synchronized to patriotic music!
In addition to the concerts and fireworks, families can enjoy our Kids Zone with tons of great games and crafts. All Kids Zone activities will be inside Midland Center and are absolutely FREE! For those who want to start celebrating early, children are invited to participate in the 51st Annual Children’s Sidewalk Parade.
The Star-Spangled Salute is going to be Hot, Hot, Hot…and so is the weather! So, this year, we have added a Cool Zone inside Midland Center. Attendees are invited to step inside, cool down and maybe enjoy a tasty snack from one of our great food vendors. This year’s event will feature several food and beverage vendors with offerings like roasted corn, funnel cakes, curly fries, fried green tomatoes, cheese sticks, pork chop on-a-stick, pizza dough balls and deep fried Oreos…plus much, much more! In addition to Midland Center, vendors will be located on Wall Street and Texas Avenue. No outside coolers or alcohol is permitted. Beer and wine will be available for purchase in our Beer Garden.
All activities will take place in Centennial Plaza and the Midland Center. Admission is free. Registration for the Children’s Parade begins at 9 AM and evening activities begin at 6 PM. For more information, visit www.fourthinmidland.com or find us on FaceBook and Twitter.
