ODESSA-The ECISD Board of Trustees had a long meeting last night covering a number of issues.
One of the highlights was a presentation by the subcommittee on discipline.
Board members say there are some concerns with the number of removals from classrooms of African American students. Officials say there are too many compared to other races.
The board also had it's first look at the budget for the upcoming year, which includes pay raises for teachers. The initial numbers show $500 for teachers and a 2 percent raise for all other employees.
The Board also approved a number of consent items and discussed plans for the creation of guidelines for naming schools in the future.
A request for funds to be used at Hood Jr. High for additional equipment like desks was approved to allow for their incoming ninth graders to be accommodated.
The board also moved forward on the creation of ECISD’s own curriculum management by extending summer training for its teachers under the TASA District agreement.
