Odessa Man Arrested for High Speed Chase and Crash 5/1/13

Ector County Deputies arrested one subject after a brief pursuit ends with a vehicle crash about 1:00 p.m. today.
Deputies were looking for a black colored Dodge Pickup that had been involved in area burglaries when Deputy Edgar Lozoya spotted a vehicle matching that description.
The deputy passed the vehicle and turned around to check it out.
The deputy was approaching the vehicle when it turned onto Avery Street and ended up running a stop sign at Ave J.
The officer activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle and that is when the suspect took off at a high rate of speed.
The subject at one point ran his car into a pasture at 8th and Avenue J and then exited by running his vehicle through a locked gate that swung open and hit our vehicle.
The pursuit continued eastbound on 10th street when he ran the intersection at 10th and the West Loop 338 and struck a vehicle going Southbound.
The suspect then tried to continue evading officer by driving East on 10th after the collision but lost control of his vehicle and it overturned just a short distance from the Loop.
The subject he collided with was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody and is being charged with Evading in a motor vehicle, a Felony 3.
This turned out NOT to be the vehicle in question that the officers were looking for in regards to the burglaries.
The suspects name is Fernando Colomo, a white male, d/o/b of 05/23/1992.
