Bush Tennis Center Holds Grand Opening 4/27/13
April 27, 2013
With the swing a racket the Bush Tennis Center opened its doors to the public
“you know we heard about it many, many years ago and its and honor to be able to see it now,” said Chris Jacques, a volunteer at the opening.
Players of all ages were at the event including one group of children from the High Sky Children’s Ranch, a shelter for abused and neglected children.
For the kids at High Sky Children’s Ranch, this was an opportunity to grab a racket, have some fun and build some self-esteem.
“They’re laughing, they’re playing, they’re having a great time, this is the happiest I’ve seen them in a while,” said Nicole Wiseman of the High Sky Children’s Ranch.
Wiseman says exposing their kids to tennis can help them find an activity that they can come to love.
“We want to make sure that they have a passion and if tennis is their passion then we’re all for going out and finding something for them to do in the community,” she said.
As these children discover the magic of tennis, volunteers at the Bush Tennis Center hope to influence others as it begins to serve the community.
“When you’re honestly saying hey ‘you know you really worked hard out there, you’ve done a great job,’ and seeing the looks on their face, there’s nothing more rewarding. We have and incredible time with them, it’s awesome.” Jacques said.
