Family Lawyer Confirms to CBS7 That Scurry County Remains Are Those of Hailey Dunn 4/26/13
UPDATE: 4:03 P.M.
The Dunn family lawyer, John Young, has spoken with CBS7 and confirmed the remains found in Scurry County are Hailey Dunn.
Shortly after 2:00pm the Texas Rangers notified Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, that the remains found in Scurry County belong to her daughter.
"We've always known that this day might come, but she had hoped for the best," he told CBS7's Matt Rist via the telephone. "She is trying to process the information. She's gathering with family from Central Texas and making travel arrangements to return to West Texas. I expect she'll be back in either Snyder or Colorado City."
He continued to say the loss of a loved one is always difficult, of course, but maybe a little more so when we hope for the return of a child for so long, and to get the news that hope his vanquished is difficult.
Young says the family has learned no new details about the investigation beyond the identification. He did say the family will fully cooperate with authorities on the investigation after Hailey is laid to rest.
The Odessa American is reporting that the Dunn family lawyer, John Young, is confirming remains found are that of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn.
"Heís telling me that Billie Dunn is devastated and that a person canít ever be ready for the information that their child has died," said Celinda Hawkins, city editor at The Odessa American, who spoke with Young.
No details were given about when the family was informed of the identification of the body.
