Two Arrested on Kidnapping Charges in Odessa 4/22/13
ODESSA: The Odessa Police Department issued this statement regarding the arrest of two people suspected of kidnapping a minor:
"Two people have been arrested in connection with a reported case of kidnapping involving a child younger than 17 year s of age. At approximately 0248 hours, officers responded to 3081 East Highway 80, Studio 6 Motel. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with a female juvenile, 16 years of age, who reported that she was kidnapped by a man and woman from Las Vegas and was being held in a hotel room against her will.
The juvenile reported that she tried to escape about a week ago but was caught and beat up by the man and woman for trying to leave. On this date, the juvenile reported she was able to escape when the couple fell asleep. The juvenile ran to the motel office and called the police.
The couple was inside the room when police arrived and subsequently transported to the Odessa Police Department where they were interviewed by detectives. Based on the findings obtained during the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for the arrest of Marquis Maurice Lamount Sweet. DOB 06/25/1988 and Domaniece Latrice Roy, DOB 02/08/1989 for the offense of Aggravated Kidnapping, felony 1st degree. Roy and Lamount were transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
The juvenile was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment and to conduct a SANE exam. The Odessa Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Texas Department of Public Safety are continuing the investigation."
