Breezy Winds And A Cold Front Today 4/9/13
Tuesday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan Ė Chief Meteorologist
Expect another breezy day across the Permian Basin. The winds this morning allowed a significant amount of moisture to return to the region. The winds will shift to the southwest later this afternoon and effectively push the surface moisture east of our area. Itís in this area to our east where thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and evening. Some storms over North Texas and Southern Oklahoma will be severe, with hail, high winds and tornadoes.
Locally, we will see highs in the 70ís and 80ís for all but the Presidio Valley, where highs will be in the 90ís. Winds will be out of the southwest and conditions will be dry.
There is a slight chance that a few of these thunderstorms mentioned above could develop over the extreme eastern Permian Basin. This will continue to be monitored through the day.
A cold front will move into the area tonight. This will bring a shot of strong north winds and much cooler temperatures. Highs on Wednesday will only be in the 50ís and 60ís. Lows on Wednesday night will drop into the 30ís.
