Possible Cline Shale Boom Could Affect Schools 4/5/13
April 5, 2013
Experts say there could be upwards of 30 billion barrels of oil in Howard County and that could cause a boom in the area. Yesterday, The Big Spring Economic Development Corporation held a forum on Cline Shale and what it could mean to the area.
Population is expected to skyrocket as well as enrollment in schools. Forsan Independent School District has a bond coming up on the May election that could help keep up with population growth, according to superintendent Randy Johnson.
Johnson says that Forsan has low student to teacher ratios and wants to keep those in place if a population boom occurs. He says construction of new schools and the hiring of new teachers are all possibilities depending on fast population grows.
