Investigation Continues into Crash that Killed 3, Injured 7 3/27/13

Odessa – The investigation into the accident that killed three and injured seven others continues today.
DPS Troopers have both vehicles involved in the crash at their Odessa office for further investigation.
CBS 7 spoke to DPS officials who say the driver of the van was not required to have a special license to drive this van. They say if a person is traveling with more than 15 passengers, a different license is required.
56-year-old Fernando Portillo,of Tumble, Texas, 57-year-old Michael Vonesh of Pearland, Texas and 34-year-old Jose Ponce of Canutillo, Texas died from the injuries they sustained in the crash.
A grey van traveling south on Loop 338 failed to yield while trying to turn left onto Yukon when a truck headed northbound struck the back passenger side.
Two people were ejected from the van, both pronounced dead at the scene.
Five more van passengers were transported to the hospital where one victim died.
Medical Center Hospital officials say none of the passengers in the van were wearing seatbelts.
