Stripes Bomb Threat Closes Roads Near I-20 and Midkiff 3/26/13

The Midland Police are beginning to open the closed roads surrounding the Stripes on S. Midkiff in Midland. They have not found any evidence of a bomb and hope to clear the gas station and its parking lot soon.

Both roads have been opened back up and MPDís parameters have been collapsed to the parking lot of the Stripes.
Police expect to clear the Stripes location soon. No explosives have been found but the department will continue to investigate the terroristic threat and attempt to locate the subject who made the call.

The Midland Police Department has issued a press release surrounding what appears to have been a bomb threat called into the Stripes near I-20 and Midkiff:
The Midland Police Department is currently investigating a bomb threat made this afternoon at a convenience store.
A clerk at the Stripes convenience store located at 2109 S. Midkiff Road said a female caller asked for verification on the storeís location before threatening that a bomb would detonate at that location between 1:30 and 2 p.m.
Midkiff Road has been shut down from Interstate 20 to West Stokes Avenue as well as the north service road of the interstate in the area. Police have evacuated the area and are continuing to search the area while investigating the callís source. The explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team is on scene.
The public is advised to avoid this area as police continue to investigate the threat.
MIDLAND - Authorities have closed the Midkiff Road exit on Westbound I-20 and the North I-20 service road west of Midkiff. Traffic is being diverted away from the area to Stokes Ave..
The reason for the closure is not known at this time. Stay tuned for more information.
