MIDLAND, TX – The Midland Better Business Bureau is warning on a new “charity scam”.
According to the BBB, phone calls are going out to Midland residents from various ‘so-called’ charitable organizations asking for donations.
The callers say that you should either be by to pick up a check or to leave funds under a doormat for collection.
The Better Business Bureau says that when calling the ‘so-called’ charity back, the phone just rings and it’s hard to verify whether their legitimate.
The BBB says you should always be able to verify where your money is going when donating and do your research on the charity through give.org, and make sure they’re in good standing.
