McCamey - One west Texas town is enjoying the benefits of the oil boom with new people in town. They are now working to keep these people in their town.

The motto around McCamey is 'come grow with us.' The community is growing like never before and it's giving city leaders the momentum they've needed to bring their city's vision to life.

The oil boom is bringing to new people into town, but with the growth comes challenges.

"We're always held up because we don't have places for them to stay," McCamey mayor, Sherry Phillips said. "We had so many businesses that had no place to go to put in a business. They were interested, but you have to have a place to put your business."

This challenge brought about opportunity for the city of McCamey. The economic development corporation decided to put sales tax revenue back into the community, renovating a building in the heart of downtown as a business incubator. The building has five spaces for businesses to set up shop.

"We spend so much money out of town. When you do that, your money does not back," Mayor Phillips said. "I think our people deserve the very best we can give them."

While no leases have been signed, town leaders say sky’s the limit.

Applications for the new business incubator will be available next week at the building's open house. It’s set for Tuesday March 26th.
