Boyce Galvanizing will officially open its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 pm. The plant is the only one for 250 miles and their website claims they can "serve all of West Texas and New Mexico" faster than the competition. The city of Big Spring hopes the new plant will bring jobs and diversify the economy that relies heavily on the oil fields. Galvanizing is the process of coating steel pipes, commonly used for drainage, with molten zinc.
