Luke Hancock's 3-pointer with 99 seconds left broke a tie and 10-ranked Louisville went on to gain a measure of revenge with a 58-53 victory at No. 12 Syracuse. The Orange knocked the Cardinals from the No. 1 perch in the AP poll earlier this season with a victory at Louisville.
It's a third straight loss for the Orange, who fall to 22-7. Louisville is 24-5 and in the thick of the Big East's regular-season race with a 12-4 conference record. Syracuse has a league mark of 10-6.
Elsewhere:
- Eighth-ranked Florida rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to beat visiting Alabama 64-52, improving to 23-5 this season. The Gators' 23-5 run over the final 10 minutes was sparked by Casey Prather, who ended up with 10 points and nine rebounds. Erik Murphy had a game-high 15 points while helping Florida remain unbeaten at home.
- VCU crushed 20th-ranked Butler 84-52 in a rematch of their unlikely meeting in the national semifinals in 2011. Troy Daniels scored a game-high 20 points to help the 23-6 Rams secure one of the top four seeds in the Atlantic 10 tournament later this month. The Bulldoigs fall to 22-7.
