HOUSTON - Toronto rookie Terrence Ross beat defending champion Jeremy
Evans to win the slam-dunk contest during All-Star Saturday night. The 6-foot-6
Ross jumped over a ball boy, whipped the ball between his legs and threw down a
one-handed slam to clinch this year's dunking prize in Houston.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Deniz Kilicli scored a career-high 25 points as
West Virginia held off a formidable comeback by Texas Tech for a 66-64 victory
yesterday. A potentially game-winning shot by the Red Raiders' Josh Gray hit the
front of the rim at the buzzer in Morgantown, West Virginia. Texas Tech
sixth-man Jaye Crockett had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds
before fouling out.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Rod Odom scored 19 points and Dai-Jon Parker added a
career-high 17 points to lead Vanderbilt to a 63-56 victory over Texas A and M
last night. Elston Turner, coming off a 37-point performance against Mississippi
on Wednesday, scored 14 points and Ray Turner added 10 for the Aggies in
Nashville.
ARLINGTON, Texas - Ryan Villopoto had a dominant effort to earn his
third Supercross victory of the season yesterday at Cowboys Stadium. He led
every lap of the main event in Arlington. Villopoto moved into sole possession
of third in the championship with his 27th career 450SX Class victory.
