Student Caught with Airsoft Gun at Blackshear Elementary 2/13/13

Odessa - Around 8:00 this morning, officials at Blackshear Elementary School received a report of a sixth grade student had brought a pocket knife to school.
While a pocket knife was not found, officials did find an Airsoft gun in the student's backpack.
It was confiscated and the student will be disciplined according to the Student Code of Conduct.
Officials and ECISD Police do not believe there was ever a threat to students and staff at Blackshear and the school's schedule was not interrupted.
The circumstances of the incident did not necessitate a shelter in place or a lockdown.
The incident serves as one more reminder that all types of look-alike weapons, air guns or toy guns are not allowed on ECISD campuses and students will be punished if found with them.
