Animal Rescue Organization Struggling After Donations are Stolen from Them 2/7/13

Midland - A group that works to get veterinary care for stray or hurt animals that otherwise might not survive was taken advantage of.
Recently gathered donations and food were stolen from West Texas Diamonds in the Ruff, leaving them with little to no options to help animals.
Deidra Lewis goes above and beyond to save animals in west Texas.
"We take in the animals that aren't able to get care," she said.
She even opened her arms to several dogs from Bully Beds, the illegal shelter in Midland.
"We found out that they were having to reduce their numbers. We went out and took pictures and helped network the dogs," Lewis said.
However her good deed didn't go unpunished. Food and donations she collected for her cause are now gone after her van was broke into.
"I left all the dog food in there and the money box. I was getting ready to take items to Monahans," Lewis said.
Which has left her in a tough situation.
"It puts us in a very big bind. We can't afford care without it," Lewis said.
Without the donations, these animals will not be able to get the help they need to survive.
If you'd like to help West Texas Diamonds in the Ruff, there will be a fundraiser this weekend.
It’ll take place this Saturday, February 9th at the Tractor Supply in Midland.
