Odessa, TX - To her sisters, 26-year-old Brittany Underwood was the life of the party, the talkative one.
“She was a free spirit she can make you smile,” said Brittany’s younger sister Ashley Llanas. “We are sisters we bicker, we fight, but we're best friends till the end.”
Ashley also says her big sister was the strong one. Brittany proved that when she was involved in a major crash on Interstate 20 with two of her children last April Brittany was air lifted to the hospital in critical condition.
“I remember seeing her for the first time it scared me,” Ashley said, “Nobody thought she was going to make it, but she did.”
Family says Brittany's children kept her fighting for her life.
“They were the ones who kept her strong they were her reason for living,” Ashley said.
After months of recovery Ashley says the unimaginable happened. Monday, Brittany was involved in another crash this time it took life.
“I miss her a lot it's hard to really believe that she's gone,” Ashley said, “It's hard.”
Now the roles of Brittany’s sisters have changed.
“We have to step in and be that mother role,” she said, “Their father is (currently) absent so it's all on us now.”
Brittany’s children go on still keeping their mother in family drawings and to the family Brittany is still there in spirit.
“We tell them that their mother is gone,” Ashley said, “She's with the angels and everything is going to be ok.”
