UPDATE: Shots Ring Out After Argument in Odessa; Shooters At Large 1/27/13

CBS 7 News
January 27, 2013

UPDATE: 10:25 PM

It's hard to believe--shots rang out in broad daylight in a small Odessa trailer park. It happened at Yancey’s Mobile Home Park at 4800 Golder Avenue.

"Two cars pulled up right next to each other. They shot, pow, pow pow,” said eyewitness and resident Francisco Cardenas. “I don't know who got hit or what happened.’

It was called in as a drive-by -- but witnesses say they didn't recognize the drivers of the two cars involved.

"I don't know who they are, but two cars came up and started blasting each other,” Cardozo said.

Residents told us they heard at least four shots. Cardoza is worried that it could be the sign of a bigger trend in the area.

"Lately this block's been crazy,” Cardoza said. “I don't know what's been going on.”

Odessa Police told us on the scene that the shot up truck had been reported stolen -- residents say it was sitting on the lot for weeks. OPD says the case is currently filed as criminal mischief and that the stolen car has been recovered. OPD could not tell us if there are any suspects in the case.

UPDATE: 4:32 PM

Eyewitnesses on the scene report at least 5 shots fired. They say two unadentified men drove into the parking lot of Yancey's Mobile home park on the 4800 block of Golder. An argument began shortly after, and shots rang out.

OPD on the scene tell us that another vehicle on the scene was heavily damaged by gun fire. That vehicle turned out to be stolen, and it has been impounded by authorities.

Those involed in the shooting fled the scene.

No more details are available at this time, but we will keep digging to get to the bottom of this story.
