UPDATE: Man Arrested was Former Odessa Police Officer and Ector County Depuuty 1/25/13

Odessa, TX - A former Odessa police officer and Ector County Sheriff’s Office Employee was arrested today as part of a federal investigation.

The FBI, DEA, Homeland Security and state and local law enforcement had a joint effort in arresting 38-year-old Jackie Thompson in West Odessa.

According to the arrest affidavit Thompson was pulled over by troopers with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) after failing to make a complete stop at a stop sign at 42nd St. and Guernsey Rd. While searching his truck the found a handgun and a small amount of methamphetamine.
He was arrested on the sight and was later told that investigators have a search warrant for his home. Thompson allowed agents access to his home and admitted to selling around 5 lbs. of methamphetamine since last October.

Documents state 27 firearms, steroids and a small amount of meth were found during the search of the house.
According to investigators he will have a bond hearing on Wednesday.
