Big Spring Police Chief Retiring After 35 Years of Service 1/23/13

Big Spring – Long time Big Spring Police Chief, Lonnie Smith, has submitted his retirement notice to the City Manager.
This comes after 35 and a half years of service as a police officer and 15 and a half years as Chief of Police.
“I thank the personnel who have worked for and with me over these many years for their dedication to our department and community. I also thank the different mayors, council persons and city staff who I have served under for their support,” Chief Smith said.
Chief Smith’s official retirement date is March 30, 2013.
