Gun Show Prices, Attendance on the Rise - 1/19/13

ODESSA—As politicians discuss legislation on Capitol Hill, local gun sales are on the rise. It was a packed house at the Ector County Coliseum Gun Show today. But if you've bought guns before--you might want to take a second look at prices. They just might take you by surprise.
"Ammunition that used to cost five dollars each now costs thirty,” said gun owner Deewayne Teague.
Gun and knife show dealers say some are taking advantage of buyers.
"People in this business see dollar signs, they know it's beneficial to them,” said Tondra Herridge, who has a booth at the gun show. “There's definitely been a price increase.”
It's not just high-end buyers feeling the pinch of rising gun prices. Middle-end weapons have also gone up in price.
Herridge says although prices are up, supplies are still strong, even of weapons under scrutiny by law.
"There’s still quite a bit of supply,” Herridge said. “I do see supply going down and those prices going even higher.”
Like most gun owners, Teague says there's just no way to predict prices and supplies.
"People are starting to get scared, nobody knows,” Teague said.
The gun show runs through Sunday and costs $5 for adults and $1 for children.
