New details on an early morning chase in Ector County.
The man accused of stealing a vehicle and trying to run over a police officer is behind bars.
Around 1:00 AM Wednesday morning, officers responded to a call of a man hiding in a service yard along Interstate-20.
When officers arrived to the scene, they say 23-year-old Alfonzo Mackey was driving a stolen truck at a high rate of speed and directly towards an officer.
The officer jumped out of the way and was not injured.
Mackey then led officers on a brief chase before he was stopped and taken into custody.
According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, Mackey has not been formally booked because he is not cooperating with jailers.
He is facing charges of evading arrest and aggravated assault against a public servant.
