MIDLAND, TX - Midland fire crews are banding together to help one of their own. The Midland Fire Department are raising funds to help captain lee wise as he undergoes cancer treatment. Firefighters used their own money to host this fundraiser lunch. Department officials say they need to raise $137,000 to help captain wise with a needed surgery.
"If he doesn't have this surgery, it could be a bad situation so if we can help a brother out we'll do it," said James Gardner, Midland Fire Department.
Gardner says the department is planning to hold as many fundraisers needed to raise the funds.
