MIDLAND - The National Premier Soccer League has announced that midfielder Alex VonHolle and forward Darius Strambler have been invited to the league’s fourth annual Player Showcase which will take place January 13-15 in Kissimmee, Fla.

The amateur showcase features 68 players that are 23 years old or younger and played in the NPSL in 2017. The three-day event provides participants a chance to gain exposure to scouts and coaches from professional divisions that are higher than the NPSL.

“This is a terrific opportunity for Alex and Darius to display their talents in front of coaches and scouts,” Sockers FC General Manager, Soccer Operations Jeff VonHolle said. “Both of these players played really well for our club in 2017, so it’s great to see two local kids get this chance.”

VonHolle is a sophomore at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He was named one of the Best XI in the NPSL’s South Region for 2017 and was also named Second Team All-NPSL. VonHolle is a graduate of Midland High.

Strambler is a senior at Coastal Carolina University and recorded four goals and five assists for Sockers FC in the 2017 regular season. He also added an assist in the team’s 2-1 win over Shreveport Rafters FC in the Lone Star Conference Finals as Sockers FC marched their way to
the NPSL National Championship. Stramber is a graduate of Lee High.
