Midland RockHounds catcher Sean Murphy out indefinitely; will miss futures game

MIDLAND - The Oakland A's 3rd best prospect and Midland RockHounds catcher Sean Murphy will be out 6-8 weeks, according to the organization, due to a hand injury.

The RockHounds announced that Murphy broke his hamate bone in his hand, located closer to the palm of the hand.

New York Yankee outfielder Giancarlo Stanton suffered the same injury with the Marlins back in 2015. His injury required surgery.

With the hand injury, Murphy will not play in the upcoming MLB All-Star futures game in Washington, DC. The Futures game is past of the MLB All-Star game festivities.
