Iraan HFC/AD Mark Kirchhoff retiring from coaching

IRAAN - Iraan Head Football Coach/ Athletic Director Mark Kirchhoff has announced he is retiring, according Iraan-Sheffield ISD.

Kirchhoff has been with the Braves for the past 6 seasons, going 63-15 in that time.

The longtime football coach has rebuilt the Braves program into a powerhouse. Last season, he led Iraan on a memorable 15-1 run that landed his team in the 2A Division II state championship game.

The Braves ended losing to the Bremond Tigers, 49 to 28.

Kirchhoff's most memorable moments for the Braves was being the leader for the small community after a tragic bus crash the killed one of the Iraan's Cheer Sponsor, Liz Pope, hours after a state quarterfinals game.

The district says they will officially open the HFC/AD position next week.
