ODESSA -- UTPB’s Marching Band got a present Sunday morning.
A brand new observation tower was delivered and put in place right on the campus field.
It's all for the marching band to get a better look at their practices.
The price tag, $40,000 to $50,000.
Band Director Clayton Harris says it will help them tremendously to get better as a young team, but also shows how much UTPB backs the new addition of a marching band.
Most importantly though, for the past year they have been using a fork lift to get a better eye on their routines; the new tower is a much safer alternative.
"The plans needed to be rev-amped just to accommodate for the West Texas winds, so yeah this thing is going to be very structurally sound, is going to be able to compete against all the weather that the West Texas have to offer,” said Harris.
The new tower will also be an asset for the UTPB Fooltball Program, as they can also use it to watch practices and record video.
