MARTIN COUNTY -- Two bridges in West Texas were damaged after being struck by oversized loads on Monday, TxDOT reports.
The bridge over I-20 at mile marker 154-155 in Stanton was hit by an oversized load around 3 p.m.
TxDOT reports that the hit caused major damage to the beams, and that the bridge has been closed until further notice. The westbound lane of I-20 in Stanton is also closed due to debris.
The accident caused debris to hit passing motorists, DPS states. No injuries have been reported.
The Tank Farm Bridge in Midland was also hit on Monday, TxDOT says. They are evaluating the bridge at this time, and it is closed until further notice.
TxDOT states that both bridges have loosened concrete and that it is currently too windy to wrap them.
This is reportedly the fourth bridge hit in the area in the past few days. There is no estimate yet on damage caused to the bridges.
