MIDLAND -- One teen is dead after falling 11 stories from the Western United Life building in Midland.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday night it was reported that a teen had fallen to his death in Downtown Midland.
The teen was identified as John Butler, 16. According to the Midland Police Department. Butler and other juveniles were playing inside of the building with air-soft rifles when he fell through a hole that extended through all floors.
MPD Communications Specialist Rachel Walker says that the building is abandoned and that the juveniles did not have permission to be inside.
CBS 7's Stephanie Bennett spoke with a friend of Butler, who says he will be greatly missed at school.
“Everyone was his best friend. He was the type of person you don't have to talk to every day to be your best friend but he was always there.”
