Suspect arrested in connection to shooting at Hobbs Chili's

HOBBS -- Hobbs Police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting at a Chili's Restaurant that sent one person to the hospital.

Steven Barnes, 42, has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a 3rd Degree Felony.

According to the Hobbs Police Department, their officers responded to the Chili's Restaurant at 1810 West Joe Harvey Boulevard on Saturday for a call of a fight with shots fired in the parking lot.

When police arrived on scene they found that a man, identified as 22-year-old Ray Molinar of Odessa had been shot.

Molinar was taken to a hospital in Lubbock where he is now in stable condition.

An investigation of the fight led investigators to identify the shooter as Barnes, HPD stated.

Barnes turned himself in to the department and is now being held at the Lea County Detention Center on no bond.
