Report: Suspect kidnapped victim in Odessa at gunpoint, set car on fire

ODESSA -- The Odessa Police Department is investigating after a man was kidnapped at gunpoint and his car was later set on fire.

According to OPD, at 9:30 p.m. an aggravated kidnapping was reported to police.

The 31-year-old victim told officers that he was in the 1200 block of North Kelly Avenue at 3 a.m. Sunday when he was approached by someone he knew.

According to the victim the person then pointed a gun at him and told him to drive to Penwell, Texas.

Once in Penwell the victim stated he exited his vehicle as the known person set the car on fire, the victim told police. He was then able to escape on foot before calling police.

The victim was then transported to Medical Center Hospital for injuries from the fire.

OPD reports that no arrests have been made in connection to the case, though the investigation is ongoing.
