ODESSA -- A woman and her girlfriend have been arrested after police say they put her two young children in danger.

Tommi Umu, 23, has been charged with Assault on a Public Servant, a 3rd Degree Felony, Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, a State Jail Felony, Endangering a Child, a State Jail Felony, and Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Erika Lizette Luna, 27, has been charged with two counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child, a State Jail Felony.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officer responded to a call of a disturbance on Faudree on Friday afternoon.

When police arrived at the scene they met with a woman, identified as Luna, who said that she let her girlfriend, Umu, drive her vehicle with her two children inside.

Minutes later police responded to a major crash at Eastridge and Billy Hext.

Once there officers found that a woman had ran a stop sign and caused a crash.

OPD states that the driver, identified as Umu, was intoxicated. Two young children, a 10-month-old girl and 2-year-old boy were found riding in her vehicle.

Umu then allegedly tried to leave the scene with the infant while leaving the boy in a car seat on the sidewalk. Officers on scene tried to stop Umu, who kicked one of them in the groin.

Both Umu and Luna were taken into custody. According to OPD, Luna was charged because she allowed an intoxicated driver to use her vehicle while her two children were inside.
