Police: Man charged after pepper spraying wife, child

ODESSA -- An Odessa man has been charged after police say he pepper sprayed his wife and child.

Tyrell Corley, 34, has been charged for Possession of Methamphetamine, a 2nd Degree Felony, Injury to a Child, a 3rd Degree Felony, Assault by Strangulation, a 3rd Degree Felony, and Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to the Arbor Oaks Apartments on Wednesday for a call of a domestic disturbance.

When police arrived on scene they met with a woman and her 8-month-old child.

The woman told police that she had gotten into an argument with her husband, identified as Corley. Following the argument, Corley allegedly pepper sprayed both her and the child.

Corley then followed the woman into a bathroom where he choked her to the point of blacking out while she was holding her baby, police say.

The woman's face was red and she had to squint her eyes to see. The baby was found to have injuries on its neck, and its face was red and irritated.

Police also discovered 5.9 grams of methamphetamine, 7.5 grams of marijuana and narcotic pipes.

Based on the evidence, detectives obtained a warrant for Corley who was charged.
