ODESSA -- A man has been charged after police say he stole items from Albertsons and assaulted an employee.

Thomas Croft, 29, has been charged with Robbery, a 2nd Degree Felony.

According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to Albertsons at 1350 East 8th Street on Monday afternoon for a call of a disturbance.

When police arrived on scene they met with an Albertsons employee and a man who was identified as Croft.

An investigation of the call revealed that Croft had allegedly hid merchandise in his jacket before leaving the store without paying.

He was then confronted by an employee, who he reportedly pushed. Police say Croft then grabbed the employee's hand and twisted a finger, causing injuries.

A surveillance video then confirmed the employee's account of their encounter, OPD states.
