One person injured in Big Spring officer-involved shooting

BIG SPRING -- A suspect has been shot following a chase in Big Spring on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, their officers responded to the area of 9th Street and Goliad at noon for a report of a suspicious person breaking windows.

When police arrived at the scene they found the subject and a foot chase ensued.

Police say that the suspect brandished a firearm. The officer involved with the chase fired their weapon at the suspect, striking them at least once.

According to BSPD, the suspect was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where their condition is unknown.

The officer involved in the shooting suffered minor injuries.

Police ask that the public avoid the active crime scene at this time.

Neither the suspect nor the officer have been identified.

DPS will be investigating the shooting.
