BIG SPRING -- Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery here in Texas, and the community is braving the heat to unite on this monumental day.

It's a celebratory atmosphere here at Juneteenth, and it's hot outside, so many people are enjoying the tropical pineapple freeze.

The food trucks, music, and games are all day long, Tubby's Mobile Kitchen was out here last night until 12:30 a.m., and are out here to be with the community to commemorate the day that Texas abolished slavery.

"People coming together of all races celebrating the end of slavery and having a good time, Tiara Jackson said."

Juneteenth is on the 19th, and these proud Texans will continue to celebrate by spending time together.

The celebrations continue all weekend long here, so come on over, get a catfish, turkey leg, or refreshing pineapple freeze.
